Waste, renewable and solar heat, 24/7

Waste, renewable and solar heat, 24/7

Capricorn Power wrote: Our vision is to commercialise a new, renewable source of 24/7 electricity, and to deploy it globally. . Capricorn power has a novel heat engine, based on a proven thermodynamic cycle, with patented innovations which result in the ability to use a wide range of heat sources (biogas, biomass, concentrated solar thermal, industrial waste heat), and high efficiency in converting heat to electricity (even at small scale, < 100 kw). . The high efficiency at small scale allows us to go to the source of the waste; reducing transport, increasing electricity value (retail rather than wholesale) and enabling the beneficial use of cogeneration. Our system uses mostly off-the-shelf components, resulting in capital efficiency. ... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

Tripling the energy output of solar panels

Tripling the energy output of solar panels

Sunovate wrote: Sunovate is a combined solar thermal and pv technology (pvt) that has been designed to provide a renewable solution for the heating and cooling demand that accounts for ~43% of final energy consumption globally. The sunovate pvt system has been designed to service this heat requirement and produce renewable electricity and does this by boosting the output of pv panels by 300%. The sunovate technology maximizes the energy output from solar panels, providing buildings and businesses with heat as well as electricity. It has been intentionally designed to integrate with existing solar panels to redirect the heat from the panels for use in space, water, process and pool heating... Regenerate Australia

Regenerate Australia

Regenerate Australia wrote: Carbon sync enables transformational change in agricultural landscape management. This change results in the regeneration of ecosystems, renewal and repopulation of rural communities, remineralisation of food a fibre products and carbon sequestration potential so significant that it could bring australia to net zero emissions in as little as 20 years when adopted at scale. This is all achieved with exisiting, proven technology while at the same time producing food and fibre. This technology is called regenerative agriculture... Copernicus aquaponic

Copernicus aquaponic wrote: Copernicus aquaponic’s revolutionary system is future-proofing agriculture and addressing climate change. We sell new generation aquaponic systems to farmers who want to be ready for climate change. Our scalable systems are perfect for an urban environment or traditional farmers. We turn food waste into organic fish, fruit and vegetables. The by-product compost is used to regenerate soil and the surrounding ecosystem. Our tech allows us to produce more, locally, at low cost, using less water and energy than "standard" aquaponics and without the use of any petrochemicals... Accelerating Climate Finance

Emmi wrote: The financial community has an enormous negative exposure to climate change (banks bank agriculture, climate change occurs, agriculture fails, banks lose money). . For the market to respond effectively to the growing climate risks, carbon risks must be fully identified, quantified and priced. . The market is, however, currently unable to quantify carbon risks due primarily to the existence of multiple structural and process barriers. These barriers have created political and trust-related risks that have stymied climate action for the last three decades. Now, emerging technologies offer a way forward. . We propose emmi as the decentralised governance platform that is needed to overcome the structural barriers inherent to the status quo... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

Eliminating waste acid from stainless steel industry

Eliminating waste acid from stainless steel industry

SUSTEC is focusing on green technologies to reduce the environmental impact of existing technologies. SUSTEC has developed a process they call 'REGMAX' to overcome existing problems with mixed acid pickling and its regeneration. According to SUSTEC, the REGMAX process enables total recovery of all waste acids components: The process is applicable for all metal and acid concentrations and gives freedom of choosing the optimum pickling conditions for best pickling performance. The closed material loop minimizes the operational costs and environmental impact of pickling.
