Nominated Innovations

1,000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030.

These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.

These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020.

Biodegradable, compostable laminate film

LAM'ON wrote: Paper and plastic is usually not recycled once mixed together because water is used to break down paper and heat can be used to split down plastic. Furthermore most plastic coated papers are not suited to composting, but do variously end up in compost bins, sometimes even legally so. In this case, the remains of the non-biodegradble plastics components form part of the global microplastics waste problem. It would be so much easier, cheaper and faster if we had a truly biodegradable coating. Lam'on set out to develop a biodegradable and compostable laminating film in order to replace the plastic one, used in the printing industry. Reusable, ethical, washable bamboo clothes

Pads are cheap, comfortable, reliable and last for years. Real environmental benefits - using pads lowers flood risk by cutting down on blocked sewers caused by sanitary waste. Landfill is reduced as sanitary towels are unrecyclable and take thousands of years to degrade. Bamboo is sustainable and uses less water than cotton. Socially responsible - we will lead the way by promoting the use of washables by working with girls and boys in schools to encourage them to talk about periods and raise awareness. Treat hazardous waste

Mln of tons of hazardous industrial waste is disposed in estonia by oil shale processing plants. Disposal of waste cause environmental pollution, mainly by leaching of contaminants from the disposal sites. We enable companies, producing hazardous waste to change hazardous waste into non-hazardous by reaching the goal set by the law for non-hazardous wastes. Balancers of wind farms' surplus energy
