Nominated Innovations

1,000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030.

These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.

These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020.

BRICRO brick

BRICRO wrote: Carbon footprint is broadly defined as carbon dioxide (co2) caused by an individual, event, organization or product. Fired solid clay brick is a popular building material, which produces enourmous emissions of co2 because of the extremely high temperature needed for its production. Bricro brick is made of saw-dust bonded with bacteria. It is produced at ambient temperature, 100% organic and environmental friendly. Production of bricro bricks will reduce co2 emissions in brick production industry by up to 80%. Bricro brick fulfils eurocode construction norms as a construction material and, because of its spongy structure, as a thermal insulation. Making athletic apparel sustainable

Iron Roots wrote: Imagine wearing a t-shirt that is made completely out of cannabis. Sounds crazy right? well not if it is up to us. . At iron roots, we create athletic apparel made from industrial hemp, the non-smokeable, legal version of cannabis. Industrial hemp has a lot of environmental benefits compared to for example cotton or polyester, so it should be, in our opinion, more widely used in the clothing industry. . As you might know, the clothing industry is the second largest industrial polluter, second only to oil. This is due to the lack of use of sustainable materials and lack of transparency within the industry. We exist to tackle these problems and to inspire the use of industrial hemp. ... Waste, renewable and solar heat, 24/7

Capricorn Power wrote: Our vision is to commercialise a new, renewable source of 24/7 electricity, and to deploy it globally. . Capricorn power has a novel heat engine, based on a proven thermodynamic cycle, with patented innovations which result in the ability to use a wide range of heat sources (biogas, biomass, concentrated solar thermal, industrial waste heat), and high efficiency in converting heat to electricity (even at small scale, < 100 kw). . Greenpeat organice resource

As expected, more than 60% of the world’s population will live in urban areas in 2030. Residential buildings are being built to be increasingly taller. At present, rooftops are typically used to install pv systems, however, as buildings are becoming taller, the available roof space per living unit may not be adequate to meet the energy demand of the building.
