This COP29 session introduced  the ”teraton solution agenda”. An agenda that focus on how we can and must  deliver a future were everyone (8 billion today and potentially up to 11  billion in a few decades) can live flourishing lives on a flourishing planet.

The world is overly obsessed by  reducing emissions from current systems, rather than ensuring that people can  live better lives in a low-carbon way.

The future is born among  start-ups and those supporting start-ups such as incubators.

Dennis Pamlin and Jay Hennessy  from RISE Research Institutes of Sweden/NCI provided an introduction to the  work and presented the latest tools and assessments.

Professor Charlie Wilson, from  Oxford and a leading IPCC scientist, then presented some new finding on how  to link climate actions to human wellbeing.

Massamba Thioye, from UNFCCC  and the Global Innovation Hub provided a very strong message about the  importance start-ups/incubators and a human needs driven solution agenda.

After that Smita Rakesh from  Social Alpha in India, who has been a partner from the beginning, discussed  their approach to a human need driven innovations agenda with a focus on  global sustainability. Paul Westin from the Swedish Energy Agency , which  also has been both a partner and a provider of funding from the start,  presented their world leading approach to innovation. Last, but not least,  Leandro Costa from PIT in Brazil presented their world leading work and  provided cases from exciting Brazilian start-ups.

After that Fabiana Contreras  Moreno presented the work WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable  Development is doing to support both larger and smaller companies to become  solution providers with an avoided emission approach, rather than only focusing  on the risk/compliance aspect (scope 1-3) that most companies are still stuck  in.

Finally Pourya Salehi, from  ICLEI and a valuable partner of the work with a human need based solution  agenda and a world leader in helping cities to see their start-ups and  incubators that deliver on human needs in a globally sustainable way as part  of their expanded climate and innovation strategies.
